This is What Drives Me
Statement
Everyday, I want those with whom I have crossed paths to describe me as a devoted teacher with exceptional understanding of my teaching subject.
My Teaching Philosophy
I am fully aware of the fact that I am teaching learners in a rapidly advancing world where technology is core and crucial in everything around us. From their homes, to their classrooms and eventually their workplace the use of technology can’t be ignored in each and every aspect.
My dream is not to create students who are simply end users of these tools but those who can use their imagination and creativity to contribute to the world around them and beyond.
As a result, I will focus on the 4Cs of 21st Century learning skills to nurture in them a sense of belonging, security and responsibility for a better and safer world. The 4Cs that I will focus on are Communication, Collaboration, Creativity and Critical Thinking.
1. Communication
Good communication is key in all aspects of our life. I will help my learners develop intentional communication skills that they will use to relay positive messages in their day today life whether those around them, those away from them, those they know and those they may have never known. I will help them learn the power of positive messages at all times.
As a teacher, I will endeavour to do the same while interacting with them, their peers and everyone whether physically, virtually or even anonymously.
2. Collaboration
I am a firm believer that nothing beats the power of working in a group of like-minded people. I will help my learners cultivate the love for working together to accomplish tasks and appreciate the power of ubuntu in solving societal challenges.
I will at all times show them by my own deeds, work alongside them on projects and also avail as many opportunities as possible for them to work collaboratively in both physical and virtual environments.
3. Creativity
At all times, I will help my students explore their creative side. I will directly and indirectly show them the power of creativity in making the world a better place. I will do this through encouraging different approaches to tasks and help them craft come their own path around anything.
4. Creative Thinking
Related to creativity, I will encourage my student to always dig deeper in their quest for finding solutions to tasks and challenges. I will help them know that questioning the status quo when done objectively will open up their minds on how they see the world around them and how they wish to see it.
With the 4Cs deeply ingrained in my learners, they will be prepared to thrive in a digitally driven and fast advancing world – a world in which they are not only consumers and users of the tools but also contributors to a better one.
